CHARACTERISTICS
The promotion of such parks at a national and European level
springs from the belief that they represent new forms of development,
efficiency and competitiveness.
Each park is concerned with specific subject sectors of enormous
interest and contemporary relevance, such as:
- the environment, biotechnologies, telecommunications, hi-tech,
and multi media technology.
The principal activities engaged in are:
- The transfer of technological information and knowledge to
the system of companies.
- The improvement of the system and structures of research and
Technology transfer, and the strengthening of their connections
with the system of production.
- Direct participation in programmes of scientific co-operation.
- Facilitation of the access of the business system to national,
regional, and European Community funds designed to foster research
and innovation.
The Association
of Science and Technology Parks (APSTI) is the body that
represents these parks in Italy. It constitutes a national network
for the organisation of:
- Forms of collaborations between its members.
- Operations involving benchmarking.
- The training of the directors of such parks.
- The dissemination of the concept of a science and technology
park and the benefits that such organisations can bestow on
the country.
As a national representative body, the APSTI has consolidated
relationships at a central level with other national bodies
linked to the field of competitiveness and innovation:
